Bachelor Party Destination Austin
If you are in charge of planning your best friend’s bachelor weekend, forget Vegas. Vegas is the cliché choice, and there’s nothing new there to see anyway. Instead, look no further than Austin. Whether you are a local or traveling in for the weekend, Austin has everything you need for a perfect bachelor party.
The Great Outdoors
It would be a mistake to plan a weekend in Austin and spend all your time inside our bars and clubs. Austin is a very green city and has some of the best hiking trails in Texas.
Check out the Barton Creek Greenbelt. Attempt to climb the Urban Assault or Seismic, one of our limestone climbing walls along the trail. Take the short drive to McKinney Falls State Park and go fishing. Hike up onto Enchanted Rock, or dive into one of our fishing holes or the Hamilton Pool. Of course, you also need to watch the bats emerge from underneath the Congress Street Bridge.
Go Boot Shopping
Even if the western look is not usually your thing, every man needs at least one pair of cowboy boots. After all, when in Rome . . .
You won’t have a difficult time finding a place in Austin that sells boots. Check out Allens Boots, Heritage Boot, Brazos Trading Co., or Texas Custom Boots. Let the pros working at the shop help fit you.
The manly smell of the fine leather at the boot store may even inspire you to get a cowboy hat as well, or at least a new belt buckle.
If you are new to Austin, you should not leave our city before trying the brisket at one of our bbq joints. If the party-goers are from Austin, know that you may need to break up a fight or two over which place does brisket best.
Regardless of your choice, know that getting bbq in Austin is not “fast food.” Plan for a long line. Don’t worry about having a long, boring wait. After all, you will be with your best buds. Also, some places allow you to enjoy adult beverages while standing in line. Heck, some people bring coolers and lawn chairs while waiting for their bbq fix.
Check out La Barbecue, Franklin Barbecue, Terry Black’s Barbecue, Lambert’s Downtown Barbecue, or The Salt Lick BBQ. There are more places, of course. Do your research before you go so you know when the line usually starts and what sides you have to try.
See Live Music
Even though Texas is portrayed as a state full of cowboys, Austin’s music scene is eclectic and diverse. No matter your taste, you will find world-class musicians performing almost every night of the week.
Visit the Continental Club on South Congress. It’s been around since the 1950s and considered iconic in Austin. Also check out The Mohawk, The Moody Theater, and Stubb’s BBQ. Finding live music in Austin is as easy as walking down the street, pausing at the door to listen, and then walking in.
Visit a Festival or Special Event
If you are from out of town, make sure you know what’s on the city’s schedule the same weekend as your bachelor party. Maybe you’ve heard, but our festivals are kind of a big deal. You might want to check them out if you’re in town. In fact, you may consider planning the whole bachelor weekend around ACL, SXSW, or Rodeo Austin.
Visit a Brewery or Two (or Three)
If you have a few beer snobs in your party, they would probably enjoy trying the best microbreweries in the Austin area. There are plenty to visit. You might look into Cedar Park’s Whitestone Brewery or the Bluebonnet Beer Company in Round Rock.
There are also distilleries and wineries in the Austin area that offer tours and samples as well. Whatever your choice of spirit, it is probably made in Austin.
Unless it’s a festival weekend, you won’t struggle to find a hotel room in Austin. For a larger group, you may consider renting a home through Air BnB or VRBO. Sometimes it is just nice to hang out with your friends. Having a whole house available to you makes it easier to enjoy each other’s company.
To make sure that everyone in your party can relax and let loose, consider hiring a driver for the weekend. R&R Limo and Bus has been serving the area for over 15 years, and they will take care of the worry and planning involved in transporting a large group of people.
